e-beam Interactive Whiteboard System Review

eBeam Projection is a compact, portable device that can turn your wall or whiteboard into an electronic interactive whiteboard.

The eBeam receiver can be attached to any flat surface. The receiver is small (6 inches across) and light at 4.5 ounces. It can activate an area up to 8′ x 4′ (2.40m x 1.20m) ,equivalent to 107″ diagonal, and set-up and calibrated in a matter of minutes.

The small, lightweight, and comfortable pen holders (act like a computer mouse) fit a whiteboard marker and feature the ability to left-click and right-click. There is also a special button for accessing on-screen tool palettes. The positioning resolution of the pen holders is +/- 1.5mm. The included eraser unit erases lines on the software (projected) whiteboard at the same time as you erase on your actual whiteboard. A quick-launch sticker which attaches to your whiteboard allows you to perform tasks such as printing pages and starting new ones without having to access the software via your computer.

The free included eBeam Scrapbook software with features to allow:

  • Sharing of data with remote users via intranet or Internet. Luidia (eBeam’s parent company) hosts a Web server that any eBeam System 3 customer can use for free;
  • handwriting recognition is built in;
  • use of an embedded Web browser, so you can integrate Web information into your presentation and share this with remote users;
  • Import and share PowerPoint files in a few clicks;
  • Meeting Manager view that lets you send e-mail invitations;
  • Annotate directly on the screen, and over any application;
  • Browse and import clipart from the Gallery;
  • can project your desktop onto a whiteboard and use the eBeam System 3 mouse insert to click around any applications or desktop functions;
  • Import and manipulate image objects;
  • Use full-screen view to create an unobstructed, giant whiteboard space
  • Save Scrapbook files as PDF, PowerPoint, HTML, and most image formats.

Larger users can also buy the eBeam server software and install it on their own network. The server software allows up to 500 users and 50 simultaneous meetings.

eBeam Projection includes free content sharing and collaboration features eliminating the need to spend money on paid services from third party sources - all you need is an Internet connection and eBeam Scrapbook.

Other manufacturers must be confident in Luidia’s technology as:

  • Luidia is working with 3M on a “Wall Display” which combines a projector and interactive whiteboard (via eBeam technology);
  • Alfher Porcewal has embedded eBeam technology into their line of electronic whiteboards;
  • Legamaster produce an interactive whiteboard unit called eBoard featuring an embedded eBeam system;
  • NEC uses eBeam technology in its revolutionary WT615 short throw projection unit.

eBeam Projection units have a two year limited warranty on hardware and software.
