Epson PowerLite 6100i Multimedia Projector Review

Epson’s PowerLite 6100i multimedia projector, announced in June, has been designed with features and performance for universities, conference facilities, and other high-use environments.

The 6100i projects at up to 3,500 ANSI lumens of brightness in XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) native resolution, enabling presenters to display visual content with sharp details and rich colors in higher light level environments.

The PowerLite 6100i features technology that can be used to help address the needs of hearing impaired and colorblind students. The projector is compatible with tuners and components that transmit closed caption content. This facilitates the display closed caption content on a projector without installing extra external components.

Numerous asset management features larger institutions would find appealing include:

  • A unique filtration system which captures particles in the air (eg. chalk or dust), preventing them from accumulating and potentially harming the projector over time.
  • Remote monitoring and control the projector via LAN or Internet.
  • Theft prevention features including metal anchor bars, and password controls.
  • Greater setup flexibility from 1.6x optical zoom and +30-degree keystone correction.
  • 5-watt speaker designed to provide room-filling sound of voices and other audio content.

Epson 3LCD technology uses a three-chip solid-state optical engine for accurate color registration, sharpness in detailed video and data images and freedom from any color wheel associated rainbow artifacts.

The Epson PowerLite is backed by Epson’s “Brighter Futures” sales and support program available specifically for schools. The program is designed to help educators select and implement the most ideal products for their schools’ needs in addition to reducing costs and maximizing their technology budgets. The program offers special pricing, extended warranties, dedicated education account managers, and toll-free technical support across Epson’s full line of projectors.

The Epson PowerLite 6100i will come with a two-year limited warranty that includes support services such as two-year Epson PrivateLine(TM) availability and a two-year Road Service Program. Through the PrivateLine, projector owners can directly access an expedited support telephone line by using a phone card that is included with the product.
