Toshiba TLP-SC2500U LCD Projector with Document Camera Review

The Toshiba TLP-XC2500U is new LCD projector with and integrated document camera. It doesn’t have high end specifications but, if does offer presenters the extra flexibility to display photo samples, specimens, printed documents, microscopic images, transparencies and all manner of material samples along with a slide presentation.

Toshiba LCD Projector with Integrated Document Camera

At 8.8lbs the unit is reasonably portable. With native XGA 1024×768 resolution, 2,500 ANSI lumens brightness and a 400:1 contrast ratio the Toshiba TLP-XC2500U should provide a professional display in conference room like situations. Digital vertical keystone correction is available to cope with mounting surfaces above or below the optimum projecting position for the screen. Presenters who take advantage of the monitor output to connect their PC or other display screen (active monitor-loop through), will be able to face their audience at all times while keeping track of what is currently on the projection screen.

The integrated document camera is a advanced CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) document camera with 3-mega pixel resolution mounted on an articulated swing arm. The camera has a built-in LED light and can provide up to 16X digital zoom. Being integrated the camera cannot be left behind!

Some other noteworthy features are:

  • bundled remote with digital zoom,
  • instant shut-down with no cool down period will save time if you have a tight schedule
  • dual security systems;
    • a removable palm-sized control panel,
    • a 4-digit self-assigned password for theft prevention (entered through remote)

The Toshiba TLP-XC2500U has a reasonable range of connection options for its intended market with:

Input Terminals

  • RGB: 1 x D-sub 15
  • Video: 1x S-video; 1x RCA for Composite Video
  • RGB Audio: 1x stereo mini-jack
  • Video Audio: 1x RCA (L/R)

Output Terminal

  • Audio: 1x stereo mini-jack (variable output)
  • RGB: 1x D-sub 15 terminal share with In/Out

Other Terminals

  • RS-232: 1x RS-232 (mini DIN 8-pin)

The LCD video projector with integrated document camera comes with a 2 year limited warranty on parts and labour and a less generous 90 day warranty on lamps. With a price around $1,500 and the added functionality of an integrated document camera, the Toshiba TLP-SC2500U LCD appears a X, you’re getting a pretty good deal when you factor in that bonus camera. Toshiba are advertising October delivery for the TLP-SC2500U.
