November 22, 2006BenQ’s New MP510 Multi-function DLP Projector ReviewBenQ advertise the new MP510 as a general purpose projector suitable for home and business applications. It utilizes Texas Instruments’ DLP (Digital Light Processing) microdisplay technology.
With a brightness of 1,500 ANSI lumens and contrast ratio of 2,000:1 the projector should be comfortable in business settings where there is a fair amount of ambient light. Native resolution is SVGA (800 x 600) although the unit has resolution support up to 1280 x 1024. BenQ do a good job with their baffled cooling system and in this case deliver a 24dB sound level which is whisper quiet for a home theatre situation. Handy features are auto-off, seven quick-set picture modes, color adjustment (instant optimized settings for brightness, color saturation and contrast according to up to five different wall colors) and even a presentation timer. The BenQ MP510 is rated as having a lamp life of 3,000 hours, which is reasonable but not world beating in comparison to similar projectors. PortabilityWith a weight of 2.6 kg (5.7 lbs) and smallish dimensions of 10.9x 3.74 x 8.19 inches (277 x 95 x 208 mm) the BenQ MP510 can definitely be considered portable. With a throw distance range from 1 to 8 m and digital keystone correction there is considerable flexibility for set-up. At the price BenQ is offering the MP510, lens shift is not included. With this unit one can project an image from 30 to 200 inches in size. Input Terminals
