NuVision 47LCM1 47 inch 1080p LCD Display Review

NuVision is a relatively new arrival on the wide screen high definition manufacturing scene. It has recently released two 16:9, 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) high definition LCD TVs to add to its existing LCD range. An example of NuVision’s emphasis on pushing technological boundaries is its newly released, and reviewed, 1080p LED DLP rear projection TV, the 52 inch 52LEDLP, which utilizes Luminus’s PhlatLight LED chipset to replace the conventional color wheel and lamp assembly used by DLP systems.

 NuVision 47LCM1 47 inch 1080p LCD Display

In regard to the 47 inch 47LCM1 1080p LCD TV, NuVision have produced an LCD with impressive brightness, contrast and response time. So how do they compare with similar size LCD televisions from more well known brands?

  • At 600 cd/m2 the 47LCM1’s brightness is higher than Sharps AUOS LC-46D62U (450 cd/m2) and Samsung’s LE45F71B (450 cd/m2).
  • Its contrast ratio of 1200:1 is less than Sharps AUOS LC-46D62U (2000:1 and 10,000:1 dynamic), Sony’s Bravia KDL-46XBR3 (1300:1 and 7,000:1 dynamic) and Samsung’s LE45F71B (6,000:1 dynamic)
  • While its response time 6ms is excellent, it is slower than the blistering 4ms of Shap’s AUOS LC-46D62U and betters the 8ms of the Samsung LE45F71B.
  • The viewing angle of 176 degrees is satisfactory and only slightly exceeded by Sony’s and Samsung’s 178 degree range.
  • The NuVision 47LCM1is an attractive looking television with a piano black gloss front beze television. It has a unique stand which allows it to be tilted in the vertical plane. The bottom speaker is removable and the shallow depth means the television can be wall mounted.

The NuVision can be used as a computer monitor as well as a television. It has twin HDMI inputs for setup flexibility and to make it compatible with the latest 1080p high definition video products.

NuVision has its on proprietary image processing system, Intelligent Digital Optimization that includes sophisticated scaling, de-interlacing, noise reduction, film detection, 3-2 pulldown, 3D comb filtering with flesh tone and color processing. NuVision has engineered its LCD screens to effectively anticipate pixel status for image movement and coloring.

The 47LCM1’s excellent brightness and contrast are attributed to NuVision’s Deep Black LCD technology

NuVision went with SRS TruSurround XT surround sound technology for their 52 inch 52LEDLP RPTV, but with the 47LCM1 have gone for BBE ViVA which is a new High Definition 3D Sound technology which integrates a 3D enhancement effect with BBE High Definition Sound. ViVA creates an authentic and exciting 3D sound effect from stereo speakers while preserving the clarity, definition, presence and texture for which BBE High Definition Sound is noted.

In times of decreasing warranty periods, NuVision’s televisions are backed by a 2 year warranty which covers parts and labor.

The other 1080p LCD TV released by NuVision is the smaller 42 inch 42LCM1 which has a lower contrast of 1000:1 and a slightly slower response time of 8ms
