Infocus IN24+ IN26+ DLP Business Projectors Review

The InFocus IN24+ and InFocus IN26+ come from Infocus’s range of business projectors. The projectors are based on Texas Instrument’s DLP technology. Resolution is the only difference between the two models with the IN24+ having an SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) native resolution and the IN26+ XGA (1024 x 768 pixels). They are best suited to business presentations with the display of PC applications such as PowerPoint. The projectors are compatible with 640 x 480, 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 resolution sources. With a brightness of 2,200 ANSI lumens it has the brightness to project a large clear image in meeting rooms even when overhead lights are on.

Contrast Ratio

The IN24+ and IN26+ have a 2000:1 contrast ratio determined by the less conservative full On/ full Off test which delivers higher test results than the standard ANSI test. However, the figure is high enough to expect the projectors could be used in well illuminated environments.

Portability

For a projector being purchased for business its portability should be considered. With a weight of 5.98 lbs (2.7 kg) and dimensions of 11.97 x 3.98 x 9.45 inches (30.4 x 10.11 x 24 cm) the Infocus IN24+ and IN26+ just squeeze in as what can be considered portable.

Having a recessed lens makes the IN24+ and IN26+ more likely to stand up to heavy use and occasional bumps which come with travelling presentations.

Business Use

InFocus have included a number of features which will make the life of a presenter a little easier.

  • Vertical Digital keystone correction – provides flexibility for projector set-up with a +30°/-25° range of adjustment. Lens shift which is not available with these projectors is a better adjustment method as it does not have the propensity to introduce video artifacts as does digital keystone correction.
  • Zoom Focus – for adjustment if you are limited in the distance you can position the projector from the screen.
  • Security locking mechanism – an anti-theft deterrent
  • Optional PIN code – stops unauthorized projector use
  • ProjectAbility Keypad – provides easy access to 90% of commonly used features
  • Color Coded Components – for ease of set up
  • Tie Wraps – for easy storage of power and data cables.

Before purchasing a projector you should use the online tool provided by InFocus to determine if the throw distances and image sizes are suitable for your situation.

Warranty

There is a two year warranty on the projector and 6 months on the lamp

Comparison – Infocus IN24+ and IN26+ vs Infocus IN24 and IN26

The primary difference between the IN24+ and IN26+ and the previous IN24 and IN26 models is the increase in projector lamp brightness. Differences are listed below:

  • 2,200 ANSI lumens (max) vs 1,700ANSI lumens
  • lamp wattage has increased from 160W to 200W
  • lamp life has dropped to 2,000 from 3,000 hrs.
  • projector warranty increased to 2 years from one – lamp the same at 6 months
