The newly released HD81 is a rejuvenation of Optoma’s unique HD81 two-piece home theater projection system. that includes a native 1080p projector and studio-grade video processor. Its two-piece design eliminates the need for multiple cables going from video sources to the projector

The Optima HD81’s DLP projection system powered by Texas Instruments mighty 0.95″ 1080p DMD DLP Chipset backed by their BrilliantColor technologies. This chip offers higher brightness and contrast then previous versions. The DarkChip3 DMD chip does not require the use of Wobulation (Smooth Picture) as it has the full two million (and some) micro-mirrors for the 2 megapixels required for 1080p high definition display.

With 2500 lumens of brightness and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, the Optoma HD81 does not require a light controlled home theater environment.

The Optoma HD81 is two piece system with the video processor and it’s cable connections in a separate, external scalar box connected to the projector with a 100 foot cable. The Optoma HD81’s video processing system is a three-stage one of decoding, image enhancement and color reproduction enhancement) offering personalized setting adjustments throughout. Video conversion is powered by a Gennum VXP technology video processor and a dedicated video enhancement chip which allows users to enhance image quality even more. Non 1080p sources are converted to 1080p by the Gennum chip.

As an optional extra the Optoma HD81 can come with a BX-AL133 Anamorphic Lens/Sled Kit for a true widescreen cinema experience. When the anamorphic lens is installed together with the HD81, it creates a fully automated 2.35:1 widescreen image, without the loss of color clarity, brightness or resolution.

Optoma offer a generous 3 year limited parts and labor warranty. There one year lamp warranty is much longer than the familiar 90 days usually offered.
