Philips 50PL9220D/37, 60PL9220D/37 and 50PL9200D/37 50 and 60 inch HD RPTV Review

Philips rear projection TV technology is often overlooked by consumers but, has the same features such as DLP by Texas Instruments that more popular brand televisions have.

Philips 50PL9220D_37 RPTV

There are two 50 inch Philips RPTV models, the 50PL9220D/37, 60PL9220D/37 and 50PL9200D/37, with the only difference, apart from physical dimensions, being the audio L/R out on the rear of the 50PL9200D/37 and its Silver Frost casing compared to the other models.

All of Philips RPTVs are 720p (1280×720) resolution and have notable features such as:

  • Pixel Plus video processing technology which increases the number of lines and the number of pixels (Texas Instruments call this Wobulation)
  • A 3D comb filter to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion
  • Dolby Digital and DTS
  • Picture-in-picture (PIP) for watching two different video sources simultaneously
  • Auto Picture for the simplicity of single button press selection of preset optimized image settings
  • HDMI connection port
