DLNA Digital Living Network Alliance

The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a collaboration of over 250 of the world’s leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile device manufacturers. DLNA certified products allow you to share digital content over a network regardless of brand. DLNA Certified products will connect, discover and communicate with each other over a home network.

DLNA Digital Living Network Alliance

Since 2003, DLNA member companies have met regularly to collaborate, share views and further the DLNA Interoperability Guidelines in consideration of new consumer needs, user scenarios and technologies. Open standards and widely available industry specifications are tools DLNA member companies use in creating new, compatible products.

In practical terms, using DLNA certified products minimizes the effort needed to share your digital assets. For example, you would only need to upload your latest photos from your digital camera to your desktop PC or network attached storage (NAS) once for the flexibility to share them with friends using your DLNA certified HDTV, notebook PC, netbook, mobile phone or PDA. All you need is a home network (wired or wireless) such as the one you probably already have for sharing your broadband Internet connection. There’s no need to burn a disc to put into a DVD player or copy files to a USB drive.
