InFocus X6 2000 ANSI Lumens SVGA DLP Projector Review

InFocus X6 has been at the top of Amazon’s best selling projector list most likely reflecting its low price and value for money. It has had excellent hands-on reviews from customers. While the resolution is native SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) which is commonly associated with business or the classroom, it seems that it is being purchased for home theatre as well (720p1080i compatible). At 4.5 lbs (2.0 kg) the projector is certainly portable enough for business use. For the business presenter, the projector ships with a wireless remote control.

The X6 is nice and bright at 2000 ANSI lumens and able to handle bright ambient light levels as would be required for a business meeting. The contrast ratio is an important factor in producing a quality image and for the InFocus X6 is satisfactorily high at 2000:1.

The X6 is a DLP projector utilizing Texas Instrument’s Brilliant Color which is a brightness improvement and color gamut range enhancement technology. While single color wheel DLP projector can result in a rainbow effect for susceptible individuals. However, the color wheel has a high number of segments (5) to minimize the possibility.

InFocus have given the X6 a short throw lens which makes it ideal for providing a big projected image in a small room. Some installation flexibility is provided with a keystone correction of +/- 15 degrees in the vertical plane but, the 1.1 zoom ratio won’t help a lot in regard to positioning distance from the screen – if you want a particular size projected image.

The projector comes with a 2 year parts and labor warranty excluding the projection bulb which has a 6 month warranty.

It’s possible to get projectors quieter than the 36dB(A) this projector is rated at.

The InFocus X6 comes with a Kensington slot and RS232 port (for PC control) if you want to install the projector permanently. Other connections are VGA (HD15), S-video, Composite Video and Audio (3.5mm).
