Samsung Series 8 (8000) LED LCD HDTV | 55 inch UN55B8000 and 46 inch UN46B8000 | Review

Samsung Series B8000 LED LCD HDTVs form part of the new LED Luxia HDTV series which has moved Samsung from direct lit LED LCD to edge lit. Series 8 includes the B8000 models (55 inch UN55B8000 and 46 inch UN46B8000). The key additional feature of this series over the Series 6 and Series 7 is the inclusion of Auto Motion Plus at 240Hz which is double the 120Hz previously possible. It provides even clearer and sharper video of fast moving on-screen action such as from sports or motor racing. The series can be distinguished by the chrome styling of the bezel.

The 8000 models share all the significant advantages of LED edge backlighting including deeper blacks, exceptionally large contrast ratios (3,000,000:1) and an even thinner panel depth. As with the other series, the Samsung Series 8 LED HDTVs are move of an entertainment hub rather than just a broadcast receiver. The 8000 models come with Samsungs Media 2.0 suite including, Internet@TV, DLNA connectivity, USB 2.0 Movie Multi-Media Center and the Pre-loaded Content Library (2GB Flash Memory).

For the best performing LED LCD model have a look at the full array backlit Samsung B8500 models which incorporate local dimming.
