July 24, 2009Sharp AQUOS E Series E77U model Full HD LCD HDTV ReviewSharp’s E77UN AQUOS Full HD (1080p) LCD HDTVs feature improved video performance over earlier models. Improvements are delivered by Sharp’s Fine Motion Enhanced technology for 120Hz Frame Rate Conversion and a market edge pixel response time of 4ms. Energy performance has also improved with this series exceeding the EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification requirement by at least 15 percent. The Sharp E77UN series includes the 65 inch LC-65E77UN, 52 inch LC-52E77UN, 46 inch LC-46E77UN and 40 inch LC-40E77UN.
As well as the 120Hz technology, it should be noted that the Sharp E77UN models have a special anti-judder capability which delivers smoother reproduction of film content. Commonly one might see judder in movie content during a slow panning shot. Sharp’s Fine Motion Enhanced TechnologyA simple way to see how 120 Hz capability provides a smoother picture is to watch it displaying the scrolling titles text at the end of a movie beside a a normal 60Hz HDTV. The jitter reduction is easily noticeable. With the E77UN models Sharp uses a unique proprietary algorithm to display 120 frames per second (120 Hz) by interpolating additional movie frames between existing ones. The extra frames mean that objects moving on screen move less between frames providing smoother transitions. Superlucent Advanced Super ViewSharp’s new Superlucent Advanced Super View (ASV) LCD panel has an ultra-smooth finish that minimizes gloss cutting down reflection from the panel while improving the panel brightness and contrast (dynamic contrast ratio of 27,000:1). Optical Picture Control (OPC) is the use of a light sensor to automatically modulate the HDTV brightness level to suit the ambient lighting in a room. Brightness control makes viewing easier on ones eyes as well as decreasing overall power consumption and increasing the backlight lifespan. ConnectivityNot many LCD HDTVs have the five HDMI which are version 1.3 for Deep Color and 24p input capability. There are also twin component video inputs and a dedicated PC input and RS-232 port for custom home theater installations. Sharp E77UN models have built-in ATSC / QAM / NTSC tuners.
