It doesn't. The 2,000,000:1 ratio stated in the specifications is most likely a conservative estimate, as the deep blacks on this unit are nothing short of amazing. My other TV, a 42" Panasonic plasma, doesn't even approach the level of richness in deep colors I get from this one. Well worth every penny, and then some.
