To understand it’s first necessary to know that the colors specified for high definition broadcasts are a subset of the wider/richer range of color expression that can be seen in digital (projector) cinemas that comply with the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) specifications, So, while the colors you see on a HDTV may meet the HD broadcast specification, they do not have the full richness of what you would see in the cinema.
When a HDTV manufacturer promotes a HDTV as having Digital Cinema Color it means that the HDTV is capable of reproducing the color spectrum specified by the digital cinema industry (SMPTE DC28) for movie theaters. Your color viewing experience will be the same as that intended by the producers of the movie you are watching. When a HDTV manufacturer promotes a HDTV as having Digital Cinema Color it means that the HDTV is capable of reproducing the color spectrum specified by the digital cinema industry (SMPTE DC28) for movie theaters.
