Panasonic X1 720p HD Plasma HDTV Review

The Panasonic X1 Series Plasma HDTVs combine all the detail of HD (720p), the inherent fast moving action sharpness of plasma displays and the optimization provided by a game mode functionality. Contrast ratio is one of the most important factors in image quality and the X1 plasma HDTV has a large 30,000:1 native contrast ratio (2,000,000:1 dynamic).

Two included features, which are common across the Panasonic 2009 plasma HDTV range, are VIERA Link and VIERA Image Viewer. The Image Viewer allows users to view their images (JPEG) and MPEG2/AVCHD* videos on a large HDTV screen using the SD memory card slot provided. VIERA Link utilizes the HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) standard to allow consumers to operate all VIERA Link compatible A/V components using a single TV remote control combined with on-screen menus.
* AVCHD is a format for recording and playback of high definition video jointly developed by Sony and Panasonic

In Game mode, quicker image response increases the enjoyment of video games when a game console is connected to the TV. Additionally, the VIERA more clearly reproduces the dark images in video games.

The features of the X1 are also available with Full HD (1080p) in the form of the Panasonic S1.

If you like the idea of simplified connection and setup with other AV devices using a wireless network then the flagship Panasonic Z1 plasma HDTV with WirelessHD deserves consideration.

For movie fans, the Panasonic V10 plasma series with premium quality 24p movie playback and Digital Cinema Color offer the same experience as a digital cinema.
