Samsung 2009 LCD HDTV Range – Overview and Comparisons

Samsung’s 2009 LCD HDTV range sees the extension of the trend for HDTVs morphing into media servers with the Media@2 package boosting content connectivity with Internet@TV, DLNA, USB 2.0 (Movie) and a Pre-loaded Content Library. Contrast ratios (the foundation of image quality) continue to improve and there have been significant decreases in power consumption.


Samsung Series 7 (B750) 1080p LCD HDTV

Features of Samsungs 2009 LCD Range

Internet@TV which using an Internet connection delivers content via Yahoo!, Flickr, and other online TV Widgets. Content can be viewed in a sidebar of full screen. (Series 7 and 8 only)

USB 2.0 Movie: Multi-Media Center user interface simplifies movie and music playback and photo browsing from your connected digital camera, USB drive or mp3 player

InfoLink RSS Service lets viewers see stock quotes, real-time weather and news.

Motion Plus 240 Hz and 120 Hz technologies eliminate much of the motion blur inherent to fast moving onscreen action typical to sports broadcasts or action movies.

DLNA supported convenient access for sharing videos, music and photos from connected DLNA compatible devices using a single remote.

Samsung’s Content Library feature comprising hours of built-in entertainment features which can be personalized by adding online content

Series 3 Samsung LCD HDTV

Series 3 is Samsungs entry level LCD HDTV series features all the detail of 720p High Definition (HD). Models range from 19 to 32 inches and suit a smaller room or a desktop position. Notable features are the game mode, SRS TruSurround HD (virtual surround sound), fast 6ms response time (for an LCD).

Series 4 Samsung LCD HDTV

With screen sizes from 22 to 32 inches, Samsungs Series 4 models are once again suited to smaller rooms/spaces. The dynamic contrast ratio is higher than the Series 3 models and there are more connectivity options. All models have a headphone jack for private listening.

Series 5 sees the introduction of the highest resolution available – Full HD (1080p). A USB connection is added for viewing your photos on a larger screen. With the larger screen size the headphone jack from Series 4 is dropped.

Also notable is the integrated woofer and the steady increase of dynamic contrast ratio through the series model levels.

Series 7 B750

Series 7 is Samsung’s premium LCD HDTV series with the highest dynamic contrast ratio – for the best picture quality. Improving image quality for fast moving on-screen action are the fastest response time of 2ms and the highest LCD frequency of 240Hz. For color performance there is the latest algorithms combined as Wide Color Enhancer3. The series also packs the full media connectivity package media@2 which includes access to Internet content.
