November 3, 2009Epson MovieMate Projector DVD Player Combination ComparisonEpson’s MovieMate DVD Player and Projector Combos combine the essentials for enjoying home cinema in one convenient package. All MovieMate models are built around the popular and successful 3LCD projection technology. At 8.3 lb the MovieMate 55 and MovieMate 60 are suitable for taking out for “movie night”. The Epson MovieMate 72 is considerably bulkier at 15.2lb and is more likely to be left in position as confirmed by features such as lens shift for keystone correction rather than digital keystone correction. While a surround sound system to hook up would improve the experience, the MovieMates come with twin 8W to quad 5W speakers which delivers sound power one might expect of a 40 – 70 inch widescreen HDTVs.
All MovieMates have keystone correction (+ lens shift for MM72) and digital zoom for quick setup and placement flexibility. The MovieMate 55 and 60 have a brightness of 1200 lumens which can provide a suitably bright projected image indoors with some ambient light from unshaded windows. At 2000 lumens the MovieMate will handle bright indoor light. To give some idea of the projected image size possible, for a screen to projector distance of 11.8 feet (3.6m) it will be 120 inches (3.05m) diagonally. For convenience all projector/DVD combos come with a carrying case and built-in handle. Highlight Features for Entry Level Epson MovieMate 55
