Sony BRAVIA NX700 | KDL-46NX700 and KDL-40NX700 1080p LED LCD HDTV Review

The Sony BRAVIA NX700 models are part of Sony’s 2010 range of edge-lit LED LCD HDTVs. The two models are identical to the recently reviewed Sony NX800 models except for 120Hz MotionFlow LCD blur reduction instead of 240Hz. We have recently given our opinion on he value of 240Hz compared to 120Hz refresh rates. Other headline features of the NX700 models include Full HD 1080p resolution for HD sources like Blu-ray disc, built-in Wi-Fi for cordless connectivity to networks and the Internet, BRAVIA Internet Video (including Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand), Widgets for providing extensive content delivery options, CineMotion for reverse 3:2 pulldown and 24p playback capability.

The NX700 models have what Sony refer to as a monolithic design with the LCD display being the shape of a slab with a black, gloss finish, glass face (while off) framed by square silver edges. The base is very different – somewhat like a thick black plank. There is provision for the screen to be tilted back 6 degrees so it can sit at a lower height than the viewers.

For an extensive discussion of the features of the NX700 models read our recent review of the Sony NX800 models.
