April 11, 2010Sony BRAVIA NX700 | 46 inch KDL-46NX700 and 40 inch KDL-40NX700 1080p LED LCD HDTV ReviewThe Sony BRAVIA NX700 models are part of Sony’s 2010 range of edge-lit LED LCD HDTVs and feature Sony’s new Monolithic design. The two models are identical to the recently reviewed Sony NX800 models apart for 120Hz MotionFlow LCD blur reduction instead of 240Hz. We have recently given our opinion on he value of 240Hz compared to 120Hz refresh rates. Other headline features of the NX700 models include Full HD 1080p resolution for HD sources like Blu-ray disc, built-in Wi-Fi for convenient cordless connectivity to networks and the Internet, BRAVIA Internet Video (including Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand), Internet Widgets for providing extensive content delivery options, CineMotion for reverse 3:2 pulldown and 24p playback capability.
The NX700 models monolithic design refers to a slab like LCD display with a black, gloss finish, glass face (while off) framed by square silver edges. The base is like a slotted thick black plank rather tan the traditional pedestal. There is provision for the screen to be tilted back 6 degrees so it can sit at a lower height than the viewers. The EX700 models have an identical specification to the NX700 except for a pedestal base if you are not a fan of the new monolithic design and the inclusion of Internet Widgets.
