Sony BRAVIA Engine 3 vs 2

As one would logically expect, there is an incremental improvement in the both the hardware and video processing algorithms from the Sony BRAVIA Engine 2 to the Sony BRAVIA Engine 3. There is also, an important and rare (unique?) technology jump with the BRAVIA Engine 3′s ability to process standard definition signals as well as HD signals.

Sony BRAVIA Engine 3

Those who view Standard Definition broadcasts on a BRAVIA Engine 3 equipped Sony HDTV will notice a significant improvement in picture quality covering noise reduction, colors, contrast and image detail. Sony’s BRAVIA engines have notably always been excellent at preventing crushed blacks – providing image detail where other video processors may deliver a near uniform blackness (crushed blacks).

The video processor is an essential element in achieving picture quality in the modern digital HDTV and having the latest version should be a heavily weighted factor in any HDTV purchase.
