August 1, 2010Sharp’s X-Gen LCD Panel and UV2A TechnologyX-Gen PanelX-Gen is a term used by Sharp for two notable improvements in the re-designed LCD panels in their LCD displays; 1) a wider aperture which allows more light to pass through from the backlight and requires fewer backlighting elements for the same brightness and 2) better pixel sealing when closed reducing light leakage and improving black levels and image contrast (60% higher than conventional panels).
UV2A Photo Alignment Technology for X-Gen PanelsThrough the use of a special material that responds to UV (ultraviolet) radiation, Sharp has developed what they term UV2A Technology which is a photo-alignment technology for the alignment film in LCD panels (alignment film controls the amount of backlight which passes through each pixel of a display). This innovative technology, which also encompasses UV exposure equipment and processing technologies, provides highly accurate control over the alignment of liquid crystal molecules in accordance with the direction of the radiation. It’s actually a pico-technology that controls the tilt angle of liquid crystal molecules which are a mere two nanometers in size. It eliminates backlight leakage thereby improving black levels and contrast ratios by 60%. The technology also enables larger (20%) aperture ratios in the LCD panel improving backlight use efficiency and saving energy. Response time is also half that of previous panel designs. 0 Comments »No comments so far. RSS feed for comments on this post. TrackBack URI Please add your comments to the post topic |
