August 14, 2010Panasonic VIERA C2 Series 720p Plasma HDTV ReviewPanasonic’s VIERA C2 plasma HDTV series is a more affordable HD (720p) plasma HDTV offering which, although not having Panasonic’s new Neo PDP display, still offers a HDTV with an excellent picture backed by an impressive 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Smart HDTV purchasers realize that unless their viewing distance is within a certain range a Full HD (1080p) display looks no different from a HD (720p). It is good to see that there are still 720p HDTV available to cover this situation and for those who find a 720p High Definition more than adequate. Notable features of the C2 series include; a 600 Hz Sub-field Drive, VIERA Image Viewer for viewing digital still JPEG images, three HDMI for the convenience of one cable video and audio connections and VIERA Link. It may give comfort to know that these Panasonic displays have a far superior energy efficiency to plasma HDTVs of even a couple of years ago and are also environmentally friendly in being lead and mercury free. The Panasonic VIERA U2 is available in three screen sizes; the 50 inch TC-P50C2, 46 inch TC-P46C2 and the 42 inch TC-P42C2.
Apart from being HD (720p) rather than Full HD (1080p), the Panasonic C2 series is identical to the Panasonic U2 series.
