May 26, 2011Samsung D450 Series 720P 600Hz Plasma HDTV ReviewSamsung’s D450 series of 720P 600Hz Plasma HDTVs are Samsung’s entry level HDTVs which deliver the picture quality of a plasma display without 3D playback or Smart TV (entertainment hub) capabilities. There are two models in the Samsung D490 series; the 51 inch PN51D450 and 43 inch PN43D450. Thanks to a pixel response time in the order of a thousand times faster than LCD HDTV displays and it’s 600Hz subfield motion technology, the D450 displays even fast moving on-screen action blur free with high clarity. Contrast is impressive and colors are rich. Samsung’s Plasma Plus One Design squeezes and extra inch of display into the overall screen size, compared to competitors, thanks to the extremely thin surrounding bezel.
The Samsung D450 series plasma is identical to the recently reviewed Samsung D550 series apart from no 3D capability and the lower resolution 720P high definition rather than 1080P Full HD. For a full coverage of other features of the D450 plasma read our Samsung D550 plasma series review. Read our technical on recommended HDTV viewing distances as in some viewing situations it’s not possible to tell the difference between 720P and 1080P and therefore more economical to purchase a 720P HDTV.
