May 5, 2008Samsung Series 7 1080p Full HD LCD HDTV 40 inch LN40A750, 46 inch LN46A750 and 52 inch LN52A750 ReviewSamsung’s Series 7 1080p Full HD LCD HDTVs share the same specification as Samsung’s Series 6 with the addition of DLNA certification.
The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a collaboration of the world’s leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile companies which has created design guidelines for a new generation of DLNA Certified products that can work together — no matter the brand. Samsung’s Series 6 LCD HDTVs (end with A650) have a distinctive red translucent tint to the glossy black frame which is most pronounced in the bezel. Samsung call it “Touch of Color”. The series 6 models need to be viewed in person to gain a reasonable appreciation of their color and styling. The red tint is a brave marketing feature but, the image quality alone should sell this HDTV as evidenced by its best seller status. For convenient viewing alignment adjustment the screen sits on a swivel pedestal stand. May 2, 2008Mitsubishi HC1500 720p High Definition DLP Home Theater Projector ReviewThe HC1500 is a native 720p (can handle up to 1080p) projector which provides high definition for the home at an affordable price. This DLP technology projector produces a bright 1600 ANSI for a home theater projector and has an excellent 2500:1 contrast ratio for delivering image quality.
The DLP chip for the Mitsubishi HC1500 is a Texas Instrument DDP3020 DLP chip with BrilliantColor processing technology. BrilliantColor technology utilizes a color-processing algorithm and system level enhancements to enable higher brightness while providing truer and more vibrant colors. The technology enables a greater brightness increase in mid-tone images in HD projection. A seven segment color wheel goes with the single DLP chip and as with any such projector design you should have a test viewing of the projector to see if you are susceptible to seeing any rainbow effects. Mitsubishi DLP 6-color Light EngineThe 733 series DLP rear projection HDTVs have a single DMD chip and color wheel configuration. The Digital Micro Device (DMD) chips have over 2 million microscopic tilting mirrors on each chip for controlling the light to each of the over 2 million pixels required for 1080p high definition. Drawing on Texas Instruments BrilliantColor technology, Mitsubishi have implemented a color wheel which includes yellow, cyan and magenta as well as the conventional mix of red, green and blue.
