3M MPro110 Micro Professional Projector Review

The 3M MPro110 is one of a new class of “Pico” personal mobile projectors designed for connecting to mobile devices such as cellular phones, digital media players, digital cameras, camcorders, and netbook computers. This class of projector allows individuals to get around the restrictions of a small mobile display by connecting a pocket size projector and throwing up a much larger image on any convenient surface. It makes sharing photos and videos with friends or colleagues that much easier.
With a brightness of only 10 lumens, you need to a find a low ambient light spot to project a suitably bright image. The projected image can be between 6 and 50 inches depending on the projection conditions.

3M KE Polarizer to Boost 3LCD Projector Performance

3M have introduced the Vikuiti KE Polarizer developed to improve the overall performance of 3LCD projection displays. Specifically, the KE Polarizer has been designed to enable high contrast, high brightness and excellent 3LCD projection image quality. Additionally, it was designed to extend projection engine life, simplify light engine designs and consequently reduce 3LCD projector costs.

The key development step for the KE Polarizer was the creation of an intrinsic absorptive polarizing material which resulted in a polarizing material with greater durability and stability than the traditional dye or iodine based polarizers. The KE Polarizer is able to support sustained higher light engine performance without image darkening or contrast loss.

Sharp Aquos and LG.Philips LCD Televisions Use 3M’s Vikuiti Display Enhancement Films

Sharp Aquos and LG.Philips LCD Televisions both utilize 3M’s Vikuiti Display Enhancement Films to achieve greater display brightness.

Vikuiti is a 3M brand covering its innovative line of optical technologies. When incorporated into LCD TVs, Vikuiti optical display enhancement films increase brightness, reduce glare and improve durability of the screen. The films can also be used to repair slight surface scratches.

How Enhancement Films Work

The majority of the backlight passing through a liquid crystal display is absorbed before reaching the viewer. Typically only 8 to 10% of an LCD displays backlight output makes it through the LCD displays layers. Half (50%) is lost passing through the polarizer and a further 34% through the color filters.

Vikuiti Dual Brightness Enhancement Films MF1-650 (DBEF/MF1-650) and D550 (DBEF-D550) were developed specifically for application in LCD-TVs. The Vikuiti enhancement display technology recycles light to achieve greater brightness. The Vikuiti films can have hundreds of reflective layers in a sheet less than 1 millimeter thick. Light performace is also improved by optimizing the angle of light toward the viewer (rather than having it dispersed and wasted).
