The Optoma HD7100 is a 720p (1280×720 pixels) high definition home theater projector which can deliver 1000 ANSI lumens of brightness with a 5000:1 (peak) contrast ratio. The HD7100 is a DLP projector based on Texas Instruments DarkChip3 DLP technology. The 0.8 inch has native 720p high definition. DarkChip3 is the latest DLP technology offering higher brightness and contrast then previous versions. Optoma have provided some advanced color enhancement options, including user definable gamma, RGBCYM 6-color, 15 region adjustments and ISF 3C color setting. With high definition video, the power of the video processor is important for picture quality. The HD7100 has a 10bit video processor which is in line with many projector offerings in the market. Video source connectivity options include DVI w/HDCP, Component Video, Composite Video (RCA), S-Video, VGA-In, RS-232 and Dual IR Receivers. (read more..) Technorati Tags: 720p, high definition, home theater projector, DLP, Texas Instruments DarkChip3 DLP technology September 7, 2007Optoma HD72 High Definition Home Theater DLP Projector ReviewOptima’s HD72 could be thought of as a middle-of-the-road or value-for-money model in Optoma’s 720p high definition (HD) home theater projector range. The HD72’s Texas Instruments DLP technology is in the form of a 0.62 inch DarkChip 2 which brings with it Brilliant Color technology for impressive onscreen colors. The combination of Brilliant Color, a high contrast ratio (3500:1 to 5000:1 with AI) and 1300 lumens brightness is designed to produce images with rich colors and deep blacks.
Optoma HD72 for Business and Pleasure - A Tax Deduction?Optoma class the HD72 as a home theater projector but, its fairly unique 16:10 aspect ratio gives a 1280×768 resolution as opposed to the common 1280×720 pixels. This gives the business application flexibility of being able to project XGA (1024 x 768) with the projectors native resolution -which will naturally produce a clearer image than one which has been scaled. Being over 7lb the HD72 doesn’t really fit in the portable category but, close enough to be acceptable to many. Its rated noise level of 27dB is a bonus which presenters competing with noisy projectors would appreciate. The 1300 lumens brightness may give some problems with brighter ambient light environments where a large projected image is required. Whether the HD72 rates as a business tax deduction with home entertainment benefits will depend on the individual’s requirements. (read more..) The HD70 utilizes Texas Instruments DLP technology in the form of a 0.62 inch DarkChip 2 which brings Brilliant Color technology for impressive onscreen colors. The combination of Brilliant Color, a high contrast ratio (3000 – 4000 with AI) and 1000 lumen brightness produces images with rich colors and deep blacks.

Technorati Tags: HD70, 720p, home theater projector, DLP, Brilliant Color August 29, 2007Optoma DV11 Digital DVD Home Theater Projector ReviewOptima actually call the DV11 a “movie time” projector as they have designed it for consumers who don’t have a dedicated home theater and want to set up the projector for a movie night or sporting event. Hence, the inbuilt DVD player to simplify set up by eliminating the need for connecting a separate DVD player. With 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness, Optoma have recognized that brightness levels are most likely to be higher for a room which is not a purpose built home theater. The contrast ratio is a suitably high 2200:1.
For showing digital images to friends and family the DVD player will load a Kodak Picture CD and display JPEG files. It will even play audio CDs, MP3 and WMA files however, the usefulness of this is not readily apparent. Optoma have included somewhat more powerful than usual built in speakers (5W) however, most audiences, would appreciate larger external speakers (home stereo system) which can be connected using the included digital audio S/PDIF output. Technorati Tags: Optima, DV11, home theater, inbuilt DVD player August 7, 2007Optoma EP771 and EP772 DLP Projectors for Business or Home TheaterThe Optima EP771 and EP772 could be thought of as fraternal twins with the only difference being the slightly higher brightness of 3,500 ANSI lumens for the EP772 compared with 3,000 ANSI lumens for the EP771. It would take a look at the nameplate to distinguish them.
Optoma advertise the EP771 as a “crossover” projector capable of performing in both the home theater and business environments. With 3,000 lumens of brightness you don’t need a darkened home theater environment which also applies to business applications where is could tolerate bright ambient light. Probably the only reason to select the EP772 would be for a larger projected image size. August 6, 2007Optoma EP7150 Ultra Portable DLP Projector ReviewOptima class the EP7150 as a “micro” projector which is intended for the road warrior making business presentations in various locations while travelling. The projector utilizes a DLP projection system based on a single 0.55” DDR DMD from Texas Instruments.
Summarizing and evaluating the features: July 22, 2007Mitsubishi – Gold, Epson – Silver and Optoma – Bronze in Pacific Media Associates Annual Dealer SurveyEach year Pacific Media Associates conduct a survey of North American Dealers to rate large screen display manufacturers. The survey requires each dealer to rate each manufacturer on a broad range of relevant factors including products, marketing support, after-sale support, on-time delivery and end-user support. Some 25 different factors are rated and combined for an overall composite rating for each manufacturer. For 1997 the six award recipients were; Gold Award: Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Inc. July 10, 2007Optoma EP761, EP763 and EP774 New Data and Multimedia ProjectorsOptima has introduced three new data/multimedia projectors. The new projectors feature native XGA resolution, high brightness levels and extensive connectivity options.
Both the Optoma EP761 and EP763 projectors use Texas Instruments’ DLP chipset and BrilliantColor technology for solid digital picture quality and enriched color enhancement, while the EP774 features traditional white peaking. The three projectors have been designed to offer easy integration into various environments. July 6, 2007Optoma HD81-LV 1080p High Definition Home Theater ProjectorThe newly released HD81-LV is a rejuvenation of Optoma’s unique HD81 two-piece home theater projection system. that includes a native 1080p projector and studio-grade video processor. Its two-piece design eliminates the need for multiple cables going from video sources to the projector
The Optima HD81’s DLP projection system powered by Texas Instruments mighty 0.95″ 1080p DMD DLP Chipset backed by their BrilliantColor technologies. This chip offers higher brightness and contrast then previous versions. The DarkChip3 DMD chip does not require the use of Wobulation (Smooth Picture) as it has the full two million (and some) micro-mirrors for the 2 megapixels required for 1080p high definition display.
