Smart HDTV purchasers realize that unless their viewing distance is within a certain range a Full HD (1080p) display looks no different from a HD (720p). Notable features of the C2 series include; a 600 Hz Sub-field Drive, VIERA Image Viewer for viewing digital still JPEG images, three HDMI for the convenience of one cable video and audio connections and VIERA Link. The Panasonic VIERA U2 is available in three screen sizes; the 50 inch TC-P50C2, 46 inch TC-P46C2 and the 42 inch TC-P42C2. Panasonic VIERA U22 1080p LCD HDTV Series Review | TC-L42U22 , TC-L37U22 and TC-L32U22![]() The Panasonic VIERA U22 series Full HD (1080p) LCD HDTV is a less expensive LCD HDTV offering from Panasonic. With the lower cost comes conventional fluorescent backlighting rather than LED. The dynamic contrast ratio is 2,000:1 which is acceptable but, not as high as that produced by the flagship D2 LED LCD series. The U22 models do however, have a superior quality IPS (In Plane Switching) display compared to to conventional Twisted Neumatic (TN) LCD. There are three models in the U22 series; the 42 inch TC-L42U22, 37 inch TC-L37U22 and 32 inch TC-L32U22. Panasonic’s Intelligent Scene Controller![]() Panasonic’s Intelligent Scene Controller consists two technologies for improving picture quality; Scene Adaptive Backlight Control and Scene Adaptive Contrast/Gamma Correction. This system optimizes contrast and brightness to ensure that blacks are blacker, whites are brighter and detail is sharper. Panasonic VIERA D2 Series LED 1080p with iPod Dock Review | TC-L42D2 TC-L37D2![]() The Panasonic VIERA D2 series LED, Full HD (1080p) HDTV is Panasonic’s flagship LCD HDTV series and it’s first (belated) foray into LED backlighting. There are only two models in the series; the 42 inch TC-L42D2 and the 37 inch TC-L37D2. The use of LED lighting brings significant improvement in the contrast ratio (2,000,000:1) over last years models. Panasonic has brought its iPod dock (introduced with the X1 model of last year) to a larger screen size with its inclusion in the D2 series features. Panasonic S2 Series 1080p Plasma HDTV Review![]() Panasonic’s VIERA S2 series of 1080p, Full HD, plasma HDTVs has headline features including; VIERA Link, VIERA Image Viewer, 600Hz Sub-field Drive, 3 HDMI inputs and a PC input. The VIERA S2 series consists of six models from 42 to 65 inches and includes; a 65 inch TC-P65S2, 58 inch TC-P58S2, 54 inch TC-P54S2, 50 inch TC-P50S2, 46 inch TC-P46S2 and a 42-inch TC-P42S2. The S2 has the brilliant colors, deep blacks and a large dynamic contrast ratio (2 million : 1) associated with plasma HDTVs. Notably, this plasma HDTV has Panasonic’s latest NeoPDP plasma display design which is very energy efficient compared to other plasma HDTVs and even some LCD HDTVs. Panasonic G20 Series 1080p Plasma HDTV Review | TC-P54G20 and TC-P50G20![]() Panasonic’s G20 series of 1080p, Full HD, plasma HDTVs is identical to Panasonic’s G25 apart from the capability to support a network camera. The G20 series has only two models; the 54 inch (diagonal) TC-P54GT20 and the 50 inch TC-P50G20. Headline features include; an expanded VIERA CAST service, Wireless LAN Adaptor Ready, Skype video call facilities, THX certification, THX Movie Mode, ISFccc capability, twin USB ports, VIERA Image Viewer, 600Hz Sub-field Drive, 3 HDMI inputs and a PC input.
