The Samsung 8500 models have the best performance of any Samsung LCD HDTV and feature full array backlighting which allows local dimming which seems to supercharge black level (without blooming) and contrast ratios. The B8500 has a 7,000,000:1 contrast ratio bringing it into the performance range of plasma HDTV.
