A wide color gamut backlight renders more life-like colors than conventional backlights. For reduced power consumption and more comfortable viewing an innovative light sensor monitors ambient light and automatically adjusts screen brightness. All models come with Sony’s BRAVIA Engine PRO for high power digital video processing.
In keeping with other LCD HDTV series the KDL S3000 series come with a traditional black bezel and for screen sizes 32 inch and below a range of designer color bezels including Cosmo Pink, Sedona Red, green, Oxygen White and Ocean Blue Mist as well. From a technical viewpoint, notable features of the Sony XBR4 series include Motionflow for LCD blur reduction with fast action sport or movies, Deep Color for a greater color gamut and an excellent contrast ratio of 18,000:1 (dynamic) and 2,000:1 (on-screen). For smoother more natural looking images, Sony have included 24p input capability to capture movies and other video sources filmed or encoded at 24 fps (frames per second). The good news for potential purchasers is that the Sony provided videos are free if you have a BRAVIA HDTV and the optional BRAVIA Internet Video Link module. Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video Link is a small, attachable module which will fit to the back of a majority of the company’s 2007 BRAVIA television models, including all of the post June shipment BRAVIA LCD flat-panel TVs. The module provides convergence between your HDTV and the Internet plugging directly into an Ethernet connection. It will be interesting to see what market leverage content provision will provide Sony with sale of their HDTVs. The concept of Internet delivered video content is sure to gain a boost from a new light detector developed by Intel as reported by Technology Review. It will enable three core components of telecom networks to be manufactured from silicon using standard processing techniques, cutting costs compared to existing technology by hundreds of times. Sony’s VPL-VW60 is a full 1080p (1920 x 1080) HD resolution projector powered by a three SXRD panel projection engine for the three primary colors The projector has an extraordinarily high contrast ratio of up to 35.000:1 which can be manually set with the Advanced Iris 2. With a brightness of 900 ANSI lumens the projector does need a low ambient light home theater setting to operate in.
