This DLP technology projector produces a bright 1600 ANSI for a home theater projector and has an excellent 2500:1 contrast ratio for delivering image quality.
The DLP chip for the Mitsubishi HC1500 is a Texas Instrument DDP3020 DLP chip with BrilliantColor processing technology. BrilliantColor technology utilizes a color-processing algorithm and system level enhancements to enable higher brightness while providing truer and more vibrant colors. The technology enables a greater brightness increase in mid-tone images in HD projection. A seven segment color wheel goes with the single DLP chip and as with any such projector design you should have a test viewing of the projector to see if you are susceptible to seeing any rainbow effects. April 30, 2008ViewSonic PJ503D and PJ513DB DLP Projectors ReviewViewsonic’s PJ503D and PJ513DB according to user forums are considered as performance value projectors for a budget price. They are versatile projectors suitable for small offices, classrooms and home theater use. Both DLP projectors have a native SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) resolution but will support 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i video sources.
Both projectors weigh in under 6 pounds and therefore is lightweight enough to be considered as portable making them more attractive to business which need to share a projector around. Another bonus for businesses and those who want to move their projector around is the digital keystone correction facility ( +/- 7 degrees) providing setup flexibility through quick squaring up of the projected image. The PJ513DB also adds zoom capability for distance from the screen flexibility and a built-in speaker. April 11, 2008Mitsubishi 73 inch WD-73734 65 inch WD-65734 and 57 inch WD-57734 1080p DLP HDTV ReviewThe Mitsubishi 734 series 1080p DLP HDTVs have a mostly common specification with the 733 models. However, Mitsubishi have added to technologies which improve contrast ratio – a primary contributing factor to picture quality.
DarkDetailer – because a DLP rear projection system is used, Mitsubishi have been able to include a dynamic aperture system to control projection lamp brightness and improve the contrast ratio over four times, providing a wider array of colors and shades for more detail (greater depth) particularly in dark scenes. Mitsubishi 73 inch WD-73733 65 inch WD-65733 and 57 inch WD-57733 1080p DLP HDTV ReviewThe Mitsubishi Diamond 733 series (73 inch WD-73733 65 inch WD-65733 and 57 inch WD-57733 1080p) DLP HDTVs all offer Full HDTV resolution on a large screen. They have some of the latest HDTV features to future proof them such as x.v.Color support, three 3.1 HDMI connections and the ability to control multiple AV devices from one remote with Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) being implemented.
Mitsubishi DLP 6-color Light EngineThe 733 series DLP rear projection HDTVs have a single DMD chip and color wheel configuration. The Digital Micro Device (DMD) chips have over 2 million microscopic tilting mirrors on each chip for controlling the light to each of the over 2 million pixels required for 1080p high definition. Drawing on Texas Instruments BrilliantColor technology, Mitsubishi have implemented a color wheel which includes yellow, cyan and magenta as well as the conventional mix of red, green and blue. With the wider color palette to work with, the 733 models are able to produce whiter whites and a wider range of colors for more vibrant and life-like images. Brightness levels are some 50% higher than for traditional three-color projection units. (read more..) April 7, 2008Samsung HL-T6189S, HL-T5689S and HL5089 LED Backlit Slim DLP HDTV with Bluetooth ReviewAll 89S models have identical specifications to the 87S series apart from the addition of Bluetooth. Bluetooth allows users to connect a Bluetooth headset which might be one of Samsung’s range including the recent WEP500 (one of the smallest available today) and the WEP420, WEP410 and WEP210.
A small specification difference with the HL5089 model is that unlike the other 89S models it has HDMI at rear. It is however, missing the rear PC input (D-sub). For a full review of the all other features read our review of the Samsung 87 series LED Backlit Slim DLP HDTVs. Samsung 61 inch HL-T6176, 56 inch HL-T5676 and 50 inch HL-T5076 Slim Depth 1080p DLP HDTV ReviewSamsung’s 76 model range (61 inch HLT6176, 56 inch HLT5676 and 50 inch HLT5076) are attractively priced DLP rear projection DLP full HD (1080p) televisions which feature a clean modern style with a thin 0.8 inch bezel and remarkably slim depth suitable for shelf or wall mounting. Other headline features are the inclusion of SRS TruSurround XT virtual surround sound, built-in NTSC/ ATSC/ Clear QAM tuners, Game Mode, PC input, USB (digital photo display), three HDMI connections and single remote control over other digital devices. Contrast ratio is a significant factor contributing toward picture quality and all the models in the 76 series have an excellent 10,000:1 contrast ratio.
3-D DLPSamsung’s 76 series DLP RPTVs full HD (1080P) resolution is powered by a Texas Instruments’ 1080P DLP chip. The chip used has over 2 million microscopic tilting mirrors for controlling the light to each of the over 2 million pixels required for 1080p high definition. March 25, 2008Epson MovieMate 50 and MovieMate 72 Portable Entertainment 3LCD Projector DVD Player Combo ReviewEpson’s MoveMate 50 and MovieMate 72 are affordable, combination 3LCD projector plus DVD units. Epson have kept the weight down for portability between rooms or for vacation travel. With the excellent onscreen motion handling of 3LCD, the MoveMate 50 and 72 are suitable for television sports events, DVDs and even games. With a versatility that would be appreciated on a vacation, they can also project slideshows or play music tracks from a USB drive or a DVD/CD. A PC or Mac can also be connected using the VGA input.
Another convenient feature is the more powerful than usual (television size) twin Dolby 5.1 Digital DT stereo speakers at 8W for the MoveMate 50 and 5W for the MoveMate 72. Apart from the excellent on-screen motion rendering, the 3LCD projection technology produces excellent image quality with bright, natural colors. Epson MovieMate 50The Epson MovieMate 50 is not high definition having a 480p native resolution. But, it does deliver that large image experience with the capability of displaying an 80-inch, widescreen image from just 7.8 feet away, or a 120-inch image from just 11.8 feet away. Brightness for the the MovieMate 50 is 1000 lumen which is in line for a home theater situation with reduced ambient light. The contrast ratio is 300:1 which is adequate for the intended usage. At 8.3 pounds it’s not what one could class as portable but, you do have the DVD player included and there is a handle to make transporting it more comfortable. The size of the MovieMate has improved with the footprint having been reduced some 63% from earlier models. To help simplify setup both Epson MovieMate models have +/- 15 keystone correction for squaring up the image on the screen. Epson MovieMate 72The MoveMate 72 is the high definition (720p) model of the siblings. It will also upconvert standard resolution (480p) to 720p. The 72 is slightly brighter at 1200 lumen and has much larger contrast ratio of 1000:1 for more detail in dark scenes. Replacement projection lamps are a considerable cost of ownership and it should be noted that the rated lamp life is up to 3000 hours which is 150% of the 2000 hours for the Epson MovieMate 50. This model also has a swivel base for more versatile DVD loading. For the extra features you are paying with less portability with the unit coming in at 15.2 pounds. March 24, 2008Epson PowerLite 82C and PowerLite 62C Ultraportable 3LCD Projectors ReviewEpson’s PowerLite 82C and PowerLite 62C are ultra-portable (5.9 lbs, 2.7kg) 3LCD projectors intended for use by presenters who need to be on the move. Both projectors have plenty of brightness at 2000 lumen to cope with higher ambient light situations if necessary. The brightness is complimented by a 400:1 contrast ratio. Native resolution for the Epson PowerLite 82C is the fairly standard XGA (1,024 x 768) for business projectors while it is SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) for the 62C.
Both projectors have a quick four second start off and instant off (no cooling time required) for quick set up and get-away. For setup flexibility the projectors come with a 1.2x optical zoom lens and have +/-30 degrees (vertical) of automatic keystone correction. March 20, 2008Mitsubishi HC3000U DLP High Definition 720p Home Theater ProjectorMitsubishi HC3000U is a 720p resolution home theater projector that is easy on the budget and offers excellent performance. It’s probably why it has proved a very popular purchase having held the number one selling projector status with Amazon. The HC3000U has 16:9 and 16:10 aspect support for XGA resolution so could also double as a less bright business projector.
The HC3000U is a DLP projector based around Texas Instruments DarkChip2 technology which was designed to improve black levels and contrast ratio beyond previous versions. TI made changes to their chips to absorb internal reflections for boosting of black levels. The improvements seem to deliver with the contrast ratio quoted as and impressive 4000:1 which will accentuate deeper and darker on-screen tones.
