Mitsubishi HC1500 720p High Definition DLP Home Theater Projector Review

The HC1500 is a native 720p (can handle up to 1080p) projector which provides high definition for the home at an affordable price. This DLP technology projector produces a bright 1600 ANSI for a home theater projector and has an excellent 2500:1 contrast ratio for delivering image quality.

Mitsubishi HC1500 720p High Definition DLP Home Theater Projector

The DLP chip for the Mitsubishi HC1500 is a Texas Instrument DDP3020 DLP chip with BrilliantColor processing technology. BrilliantColor technology utilizes a color-processing algorithm and system level enhancements to enable higher brightness while providing truer and more vibrant colors. The technology enables a greater brightness increase in mid-tone images in HD projection. A seven segment color wheel goes with the single DLP chip and as with any such projector design you should have a test viewing of the projector to see if you are susceptible to seeing any rainbow effects.

ViewSonic PJ503D and PJ513DB DLP Projectors Review

Viewsonic’s PJ503D and PJ513DB according to user forums are considered as performance value projectors for a budget price. They are versatile projectors suitable for small offices, classrooms and home theater use. Both DLP projectors have a native SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) resolution but will support 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i video sources.

ViewSonic PJ503D Projector

Both projectors weigh in under 6 pounds and therefore is lightweight enough to be considered as portable making them more attractive to business which need to share a projector around. Another bonus for businesses and those who want to move their projector around is the digital keystone correction facility ( +/- 7 degrees) providing setup flexibility through quick squaring up of the projected image. The PJ513DB also adds zoom capability for distance from the screen flexibility and a built-in speaker.

Epson MovieMate 50 and MovieMate 72 Portable Entertainment 3LCD Projector DVD Player Combo Review

Epson’s MoveMate 50 and MovieMate 72 are affordable, combination 3LCD projector plus DVD units. Epson have kept the weight down for portability between rooms or for vacation travel. With the excellent onscreen motion handling of 3LCD, the MoveMate 50 and 72 are suitable for television sports events, DVDs and even games. With a versatility that would be appreciated on a vacation, they can also project slideshows or play music tracks from a USB drive or a DVD/CD. A PC or Mac can also be connected using the VGA input.

Epson MovieMate 50 Projector

Another convenient feature is the more powerful than usual (television size) twin Dolby 5.1 Digital DT stereo speakers at 8W for the MoveMate 50 and 5W for the MoveMate 72.

Apart from the excellent on-screen motion rendering, the 3LCD projection technology produces excellent image quality with bright, natural colors.

Epson MovieMate 50

The Epson MovieMate 50 is not high definition having a 480p native resolution. But, it does deliver that large image experience with the capability of displaying an 80-inch, widescreen image from just 7.8 feet away, or a 120-inch image from just 11.8 feet away. Brightness for the the MovieMate 50 is 1000 lumen which is in line for a home theater situation with reduced ambient light. The contrast ratio is 300:1 which is adequate for the intended usage.

At 8.3 pounds it’s not what one could class as portable but, you do have the DVD player included and there is a handle to make transporting it more comfortable. The size of the MovieMate has improved with the footprint having been reduced some 63% from earlier models. To help simplify setup both Epson MovieMate models have +/- 15 keystone correction for squaring up the image on the screen.

Epson MovieMate 72

The MoveMate 72 is the high definition (720p) model of the siblings. It will also upconvert standard resolution (480p) to 720p. The 72 is slightly brighter at 1200 lumen and has much larger contrast ratio of 1000:1 for more detail in dark scenes. Replacement projection lamps are a considerable cost of ownership and it should be noted that the rated lamp life is up to 3000 hours which is 150% of the 2000 hours for the Epson MovieMate 50.

This model also has a swivel base for more versatile DVD loading. For the extra features you are paying with less portability with the unit coming in at 15.2 pounds.

Epson PowerLite 82C and PowerLite 62C Ultraportable 3LCD Projectors Review

Epson’s PowerLite 82C and PowerLite 62C are ultra-portable (5.9 lbs, 2.7kg) 3LCD projectors intended for use by presenters who need to be on the move. Both projectors have plenty of brightness at 2000 lumen to cope with higher ambient light situations if necessary. The brightness is complimented by a 400:1 contrast ratio. Native resolution for the Epson PowerLite 82C is the fairly standard XGA (1,024 x 768) for business projectors while it is SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) for the 62C.

Epson PowerLite 82C

Mitsubishi HC3000U DLP High Definition 720p Home Theater Projector

Mitsubishi HC3000U is a 720p resolution home theater projector that is easy on the budget and offers excellent performance. It’s probably why it has proved a very popular purchase having held the number one selling projector status with Amazon. The HC3000U has 16:9 and 16:10 aspect support for XGA resolution so could also double as a less bright business projector.

Mitsubishi HC3000U DLP High Definition 720p Home Theater Projector

The HC3000U is a DLP projector based around Texas Instruments DarkChip2 technology which was designed to improve black levels and contrast ratio beyond previous versions. TI made changes to their chips to absorb internal reflections for boosting of black levels. Panasonic PT-AX200U / PT-AX200E 3LCD Gamer’s Projector Review

The Panasonic PT-AX200U (Americas) / PT-AX200E (Europe and Asia) is a native 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) high definition digital home theatre projector with an impressive 2,000 ANSI lumen brightness. Epson Ensemble HD-1080 and HD-720 Home Cinema Packages

Judges for CES 2008 recognized an astute, market changing idea when they nominated the Epson Ensemble HD 1080 as a Design and Engineering Honoree in the Video Components Product Category. The market changing concept being recognized was Epson’s development of a world first complete, fully-integrated audio and video projection system. It seems such a simple concept but factors appealing to consumers will be;

  • There is no requirement to shop around for separate equipment items matching performance requirements, connectors etc. – it’s an “out of the box” solution even including everything required for installation.
  • The system is already integrated complete with a single remote to control all components.
  • With cleverly integrated surround sound speakers cabling and installation effort and costs have been minimized.

Epson Ensemble HD-1080

The Ensemble HD package includes:

  • Epson PowerLite Home Cinema Projector - 1080p or 720p in cradle with integrated speakers
  • Motorized electric screen – 100 inches with integrated LCR speakers

Epson Powerlite S5 Projector

With 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness the Epson Powerlite S5 can project a bright image even with considerable ambient light.

Viewsonic Announces Five New DLP Projectors - PJ557D, PJ559D, PJ560D, PJ551D and PJ260D

Something that is striking with Viewsonic’s new DLP projectors specifications is the longer than usual three year warranty and the exceptionally long one year lamp warranty (four times the standard 90 days). Given that Viewsonic also advertises a long 4,000 hour lamp life, it offers a potential purchaser cost over life reductions and peace of mind.

Viewsonic DLP PJ260D Projector

In releasing five new models, ViewSonic seems to want to push on with its reported position, by Decision Tree Consulting Worldwide, of the fastest growing projector brand in the market in the first half of 2007. The five new projectors are the PJ557D, PJ559D, PJ560D, PJ551D and PJ260D which are being targeted at both educators and business professionals.
