Toshiba TLP-XC2500AU Projector with Integrated Document Camera Review

Toshiba have just released the TLP-XC2500AU LCD, XGA (1024 x 768) resolution projector with integrated document camera providing presenters the flexibility of incorporating written media, smaller objects and even microscopic samples into their presentations.

The document camera is deployed by simply extending it from the projector and positioning it over the object to be captured. The document camera is a 3 Mega-pixel CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) camera.

The TLP-XC2500AU has a brightness of 2,500 ANSI lumens which makes it suitable for coping with rooms with high ambient light levels. The contrast ratio is a reasonable 400:1 for the intended use by educators and business presenters. The built-in speakers are only 1W so external speakers should be considered depending on the presentation material. (read more..)

Elmo have just released a new document camera, the P100. The flexibility to used for a slide show without a PC is a bonus to those who would need to transport the unit to different presentations.

Elmo produce a range of presentation tools for business, education and medical applications. The P100 Document Camera joins Elmo’s range of other digital and analog digital presenters including the Teacher’s Tool TT-02, P10 XGA Visual Presenter, P30 XGA Visual Presenter and the top of the range HV-5100XG.

With a PC connected using USB two useful features of the P100 are annotation of the image being viewed and showing a split sreen with a live image and an image from memory (eg. before and after).

Toshiba TLP-SC2500U LCD Projector with Document Camera Review

The Toshiba TLP-XC2500U is new LCD projector with and integrated document camera. It doesn’t have high end specifications but, if does offer presenters the extra flexibility to display photo samples, specimens, printed documents, microscopic images, transparencies and all manner of material samples along with a slide presentation.

At 8.8lbs the unit is reasonably portable. With native XGA 1024×768 resolution, 2,500 ANSI lumens brightness and a 400:1 contrast ratio the Toshiba TLP-XC2500U should provide a professional display in conference room like situations. Digital vertical keystone correction is available to cope with mounting surfaces above or below the optimum projecting position for the screen. Presenters who take advantage of the monitor output to connect their PC or other display screen (active monitor-loop through), will be able to face their audience at all times while keeping track of what is currently on the projection screen.

The integrated document camera is a advanced CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) document camera with 3-mega pixel resolution mounted on an articulated swing arm. The camera has a built-in LED light and can provide up to 16X digital zoom. Being integrated the camera cannot be left behind!

Canon RE-455X Visualizer Review

In Canons own words, the RE-455X Visualizer was designed to “combine advanced new capabilities with increased affordability to meet the needs of a wide range of professionals in education, business, government, law, medicine and many other sectors”.

Designed as a stand-alone unit but, also a companion product to Canon’s new LV-7245, LV-7240, and LV-X5 Multimedia Projectors, Canon’s new RE-455X Visualizer is an XGA resolution document camera built to capture images of paper-based documents or 3-D objects suitable for presentations, study, and analysis. It can be utilized for applications including distance learning, telemedicine, presentations and videoconferencing. The One-Shot Autofocus feature provides accurate focus with the single touch of a button, should be a useful feature when required to change items beneath the Visualizer’s camera often.
